FAQs

Take the Bet is a swipe-style sports prediction game where you pick winners and challenge friends using virtual chips (not real money). It’s designed to feel like sports betting—without the financial risk—so you can compete, talk trash, and win bragging rights.

TTB translation: All the thrill, none of the regret.

Yes—Take the Bet is a free-to-play sports prediction game with virtual chips. Optional premium features may come later, but the core game stays playable.

No. Take the Bet is not real-money gambling. There are no cash wagers, no cash-out features, and no real-money payouts. This is a game for entertainment and competition.

No—players cannot win real money in Take the Bet. Virtual chips are for gameplay only and have no cash value. Also, it is not a Sweepstakes.

TTB translation: Bragging rights only.

Virtual chips are your in-game currency used to:

  • Place picks and challenges
  • Build parlays/game cards
  • Compete on leaderboards
  • Track your performance

No. Virtual chips have no monetary value, aren’t redeemable for cash, and can’t be withdrawn.

You can earn chips through gameplay and bonuses, including:

  • Daily chip bonus
  • Login streak rewards
  • Special promos or featured events

Pre-launch note: More chip features are coming at launch.

Tex is the spirit behind Take the Bet. He’s the “house personality” in the game—part commentator, part instigator, always ready with a line when you win (or when you don’t). Tex is also real: he’s inspired by the founder’s father, a lifelong sports fan who loved making picks and talking games. Take the Bet exists in his honor.

Swiping is the core mechanic:

  • Swipe to accept picks or game cards
  • Swipe to pass
  • Get instant feedback to keep gameplay quick and smooth

Sports vary by season and data availability. Common examples include:

  • NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAA Football and Basketball, MLS, English Premier League, UFC
  • More may be added (soccer, MMA, college sports, etc.)

Pre-launch note: Sport availability may vary by day.

We use real-world sports data and betting lines, specifically, we use the consensus line which is an average of the following:

  • DraftKings
  • FanDuel
  • PointsBet (Historical Only)
  • BetMGM
  • Caesars
  • SugarHouse
  • BetParx
  • BetRivers
  • Unibet
  • Sports Illustrated
  • Tipico (Historical Only)
  • ESPN BET (New as of that post)
  • ProphetX (New as of that post)

Depending on the mode, you may see:

  • Moneyline (who wins)
  • Spreads
  • Totals (over/under)
  • Parlay-style combinations (soon to be added feature).

This usually happens when:

  • The game already started
  • Lines are locked
  • The event is no longer available

TTB translation: No time machine bets allowed.

Those are betting-style odds:

  • Plus odds (+) = bigger payout, less likely outcome
  • Minus odds (-) = smaller payout, more favored outcome

Bet: 5 chips at +200

Meaning: You win 2.00 chips profit for every 1 chip you bet.

  • Profit if you win: 5 × 2.00 = 10 chips
  • Total return (profit + bet): 10 + 5 = 15 chips
  • If you lose: you lose your 5 chips

Win = +10 profit / 15 total back

Bet: 5 chips at -150

Meaning: You must bet 1.50 chips to win 1 chip profit.

Profit formula: Profit = Bet × (100 / 150)

  • Profit if you win: 5 × (100/150) = 5 × 0.6667 = 3.33 chips
  • Total return: 5 + 3.33 = 8.33 chips
  • If you lose: you lose your 5 chips

Win = +3.33 profit / 8.33 total back

  • +200: Profit 10, Total 15 (no change)
  • -150: Profit 3, Total 8

Winnings follow betting-style odds, paid in virtual chips.

Example: wager 5 chips at +236 → profit about 11.8 chips (total return about 16.8).

To keep it simple, payouts are rounded down so chips stay clean and easy.
